A Little Love Goes a Long Way
Here are a few quick tips on how to keep your gear fresh and ready for whatever you throw at it.
FULL GRAIN LEATHER
The beauty of our full-grain leather lies in how it evolves with use, developing a rich, unique patina over time. We recommend letting the leather age naturally. To clean it, use a hot hair dryer to warm the surface, especially scuffs or marks, then gently rub with your finger to redistribute the natural oils and restore the leather's finish.
QUICK TIP
Leather conditioners can sometimes darken the color of your leather, especially if the base hue is quite light. You can use conditioner, but refrain from using too much. Remember to apply it sparingly to avoid clogging the leather's pores.
Check out this short video detailing the leather conditioning process.
WAXED CANVAS
To clean waxed canvas, start by brushing off surface dirt, then wipe with a damp cloth and cold water. For tougher spots, gently scrub with a small amount of mild soap, rinse with a clean, damp cloth, and let air dry completely away from heat or sun. Avoid machine washing, dry cleaning, or harsh detergents, as they strip the wax and can damage the pigmentation of the canvas.
Once the bag is spot-cleaned, re-wax the bag by applying wax to the surface of the canvas, and working it in by hand or with a cloth. Once the wax is evenly spread out, use a blowdryer to melt the wax into the surface of the canvas.
The Martexin Original wax formula we use on all of our canvas bags is available here.
QUICK TIP
Re-waxing your canvas bag after cleaning it ensures that the bag will retain its original water-resistance.

BALLISTIC NYLON
Ballistic nylon is very durable and can take A tough scrubbing. You can clean it by spot cleaning with a damp cloth and mild soap, or hand washing in cool water with a gentle detergent for deeper cleaning. Rinse thoroughly and air dry. Never use heat.
Avoid bleach, harsh chemicals, or very hot water, as they can damage the fabric and strip its water-repellent coating.
QUICK TIP
Ballistic nylon can pick up dust, hair, and lint due to its tight weave. Sometimes, all you need to clean it is a lint roller and five free minutes.
GOLD NYLON LINER
The interior gold nylon liner requires similar care compared to the ballistic nylon material. Start by brushing off surface dirt, then wipe the material down with a damp cloth and cold water. For tougher spots, gently scrub with a small amount of mild soap, rinse with a clean, damp cloth, and let the bag air dry completely away from heat or the sun.
QUICK TIP
Our gold nylon liner has a water-resistant backing, so getting it wet is completely fine. However, we recommend vacuuming out the bag before washing its interior to remove any surface contaminants like dirt and dust.
TASLAN and ECOPAK™
Like ballistic nylon, Taslan and ECOPAK™ should be washed by hand with mild soap and water. Both are fine materials compared to ballistic nylon, so avoid scrubbing it too hard with a stiff brush.
After washing the bag, let it air-dry, and avoid leaving it out in the sun.
QUICK TIP
Avoid bleach and harsh chemicals since they can damage the fabric and strip its water-repellent coating. Additionally never machine wash or dry Taslan and ECOPAK™.
